Replacing spheres ..... Trust me they are a nightmare to do
KP Y?

sure mine is close... not longer supple over bumps.. was sure it was more comfortable than my td xant when I got it, but the xant may not have been a good role model anyways,,

I want to know why Will feels the need to put his father in the boot?

After the cylinder started to fall to bits on the passenger rear of the last one i tried to get the sphere off in place.

Non of the usual xantia methods worked.
Trying to puncture it was fruitless and i ended up blunting 2 drill bits drilling a hole into it when it was on the bench. To get the one on the car off as the strut was already toast i cut around as much of the mating interface as i could and bashed at it for a long time before movement occurred.

Thats why i said those dowty seals could be good for the C5 as the rears are heavily exposed so cutting away a bit of the mating interface and then using a dowty to replace it would work well but still a nightmare :)

Adam, if it was easy to put my old man in the boot i would ;) The boot lip issue is for the fact that my mum is wheel chair bound for life now :( so having no bootlip at all helps my dad get her wheel chair in and out. If the XM hatch had no bootlip then it would be ideal for him as he likes a bigger car but not an estate and the xm estate is just far to big for him, the C5 hdi 2.2 is pushing it for him...

if i won the lotto he'd be getting a mint XM, HDi converted and some time in a bodyshop to get rid of the lip without affecting the styling too much :)

PS the non 3+ C5's are always going to be much stiffer/harder than the xantias.

The V6 Xantia and the TD i have now were lovely compared to the C5 and this TD is non hydractive and is super super soft, specially at the rear as Paul can atest to :)

What are the 2ltr Hdi 16v engines like. Are they 138bhp? Any issues to look out for?

Do they have this anti pollution (fap) thingie ma bob?

Better than the 1.6 for turbo life but not as easy to work on as the 8 valve. 138 hp I think. Yes.

They are 138bhp yes and they do prove to be a reasonably lively performer over the 110 HDi. They are generally very good and certainly a more reliable engine than the 1.6HDi (which is good when on short service intervals).

They do have the DPF yes but it is more refined and generally better for reliability than that on the earlier 2.2 136 engine.

I'd recommend one and if I got another diesel C5, it would have that engine again as my last one was a nice drive.
