Door locking / Alarm Quandry - How to resolve?

Post by Rhothgar »

Put the NEW S1 on the road today finally.

The original Citroen battery is indeed dead.

So I borrowed the battery off the HDi.

Problem is I left it unlocked. So I went around and pushed each button down - FINE!

However, then I realised the boot was not locked and it is blanked off on the HDi. Not sure why. Feel it is probably a standard thing.

So how do I lock the boot?

I decided to put the battery on and lock the doors.

Some of you will know what's coming!

Removed the earth lead - FINE! Removed the postive - ALARM GOING OFF!

Anyone got any idea how I can lock it and leave it secure with no battery on?

Are you sure its a S1 ? S2 don't have a keyhole on the boot button but all of the S1 I've seen do...

You might be a bit stuck but what I don't understand is why the alarm is arming when you're only locking the car with the key instead of the remote ? At least on a S2 the alarm only arms with the remote, not the key.

If you have access to a Lexia you may be able to disable the alarm until you have your battery problem sorted out - at least you can on a S2, not certain about the S1.

If it is an S1 then there is a disable switch under the bonnet in front of the scuttle on the right hand side under a flexible cover, looks like a clutch fluid reservoir. Use the ignition key to turn it off.

Sorry Guys.

I am referring to the S2 not the S1.

I borrowed the battery of the S2 and stuck it in the S1. The S1 battery is now on the S2 - armed and dangerous!

I need to remove the old S1 battery (which is now in the S2) to put it on trickle charge and try to recover it.

In that case you should just be able to lock the doors with the KEY not the fob button with the bonnet still open and then disconnect the battery without the alarm going off because the alarm is not armed.

I've done it loads of times on mine! Mind you the alarm bonnet switch on mine is faulty, but I don't think that should have any impact as the alarm is not armed.

Now that we know its a S2 you can definitely disable the Alarm with the Lexia - you'll need to go into the CPH programming and you'll need to know the four character confidential code for the car.

Once disabled with the Lexia the alarm will be permanently disabled until you re-enable it with the Lexia by following the same procedure, although as I say none of this should be necessary as the alarm should not be going off when the battery is disconnected when it's not armed.

Ditto Mandrakes comments.

DO NOT use the plip. Use the key in the door on the S2 to lock, then remove the battery connections. I do it all the time too..

Yes. I had used the plip to save me walking to the door.

Never thought of trying that. Cheers Guys.

Good job there was a solution as I haven't got a Lexia!
