Xantia TD exhaust sealing ring, how much of a job is it??

Post by Timmo »

Evening all,
tinkering with the wagon just now checking how bad the lower engine mount is, and noticed the exhaust is blowing at the sealign ring quite a bit,
ive dont them before on the BX and know its not the nicest of jobs when limited on space, but thought i'd ask the Oracle's just how bad a job it is on the td?? is it the sort of job that should take 20 mins but will take 20 hours?? best leave a Whole day + extra to do?? will leave it till next week as is school holidays and were up to mothers this weekend, sods law dictates if i try it tomorrow it'll end in tears! :-D

Haha! Fortunately mums cooking is Awesome! Always Loads of it! :-D both my girls would do Anything for Grannie! Even clear their plates! Hahahah!

i've found a kit with the ring (obviously), new bolts, washers, springs and nuts for a tenner so will order one up and sort it next week, will apply plenty of plus gas to them the night before just incase! ;-)

if i remember correctly a long 3/8th drive extension or two with a deep 10mm socket is useful to have to hand,
and a short 10mm spanner with a slight crank on it,

Thanks matey,
Sounds pretty much the same as the 16v in the bx, i've a few spare spring lengths for the 16v kit as they had 3 lengths, just incase, am pretty sure in the end on that I used a Long socket extension and a hammer and knocked the cups through instead of cutting them due to access! One of those jobs I am Really looking forward too! :-D

if you mean you knocked the bolt seats/cups through the manifold lugs, i would not bash these as you are in serious risk of breaking the lugs from the manifold flange,
