Having pleanty of sx and vsx xantia the xm still rides like neither and nothing else once setup correctly! I find..

The series two xm also does suffer from the electro valve issues where a e crofting kit is needed.

As Paul quite rightly states, there's no arguing going on here Nigel, just a normal FCF discussion really :)

We've only just scratched the surface of 'fun' XM jobs and those mentioned are the easy ones :twisted: :roll: :lol:

I had a 2.1 on a P-plate back in 2005. I had it for just over a year and put 42,000 miles on it. All I did to it was change the oil occasionally and did the diode mod. I put 4 tyres on it at some point as well. Great car. It had done 260,000 by the time I sold it - only sold because the missus wanted something smaller.

the beauty of having a friendly independant is he will show you what has to be done as he does it
so you can learn by han=ving the job done by someone else in the first instance.

Well there are currently a few on e-bay. I'm posting the first for a laugh, but any of the others could be worth a look (although 1 or 2 might need a little work!);

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CITROEN-XM-VS ... 33859f2797" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1997-Citroen- ... 2c742df4be" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2000-CITROEN- ... 2eca6a6c19" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

There are a couple of others, but they might be a bit pricey.

Not at all the first one would be a nice cheapy projet for someone id =f of course they already have another car to use in the mean time, The attractive one to me is the red one thats got a bit of mot left but needs a new one in Novemeber could be a good buy that one just depends how much welding it needs and how structural it is.

We assume the 1197 P reg SX model. Nice base spec, with manual seats and no air con. Which is fine.

127k is very low, and no doubt by 1997 Citroen were fitting MLS head gaskets from factory so the head gasket shouldn't be an issue. That will have the EPIC pump which should go rather well, driving an Auto Estate with EPIC recently suprised me considerably.

For the price of that car, shes WELL worth that price I think.. However, not sure what the connection between the ABS light and connection under the seat has. I think they could possibly mean Air Bag light in is, as thats also orange. Its a better slightly more reliable Tevis ABS system on that car.

Its cheap, incredably SCARSE with manual box, so should go rather well and worth a good look over.

I didn't think anybody would want the first one, it was just that the beginning comments made me laugh, "Husbands buying this must have a letter of permission from their wife. I do not wish to be named in divorce proceedings.". The guy has (probably) a sense of humour.

There are a couple of other diesel XMs on e-bay, but at between £1,700 and £3,000 I didn't post them up.

Ok I have found someone to replace the head on my Xantia so all being well with the spare engine
she will go by trailer to Bourne Citroen soon.
It just doesnt make any sense scrapping such a good car.
Thanks for all the advice from everyone but I can't let my Xantia die like this.
regards
Nigel.
