Mk 2 C5 radio issue

Post by NickW »

Hi expert guys. A seemingly trivial but annoying thing - I don't seem to be able to have the radio on without the ignition also on. Now sometimes I need to be parked waiting (usually for her....) and like to listen to the radio, but there doesn't seem to be that option. Any ideas?

Position 1 on the MK1 C5 just allows the radio to come on. Are you talking about the facelift C5 or the newest X7 model?

Is it dropping into Economy Mode. Don't know about the Phase 1 facelift, but the phase 2. 2008> (X7) has an economy mode enabled, which means you get full access to all the entertainment system with the ignition off, for the amount of time the engine has been running, up to a maximum of 30 minutes, then the car goes into economy mode, where only things like hazard lights and necessary equipment remains available. If the battery is a bit low, or there is a power drain, economy mode will kick in sooner, or maybe even as soon as the ignition is switched off.
I think the phase 1 facelift has a similar system but the timing might be different.
Rick.

Sussed it. It's a 2006 facelift model. It seems that after I switch the ignition off, with the key still in, I have to switch on the radio. Who'd have thought it?
