C5 MkIII brakes pulsing

Post by whatdoesthisbuttondo »

Happening for a while now, the brakes 'pulse' when applied softly or firmly, but more noticeably when gently stopping. They almost grab fast just as the car stops rolling.
If it was warped discs i would hear/feel as they rotate I would think. Could it be air locked (Ive not bled brakes for years!)
its just been serviced with a report that the oil was in good condition. Anything else I should consider?

i dont know what the brake system is like on a MK3 C5,

I had this problem after mine had been laid up for a while due to rust on the discs, it has improved considerably but it still does it if I brake hard, I think the discs are probably out of shape due to the rust or they could be warped but as I rarely brake hard I'm not really bothered about it.

My first suspect would be rust at the disc to hub interface.

Same same with my old Mk1, a very slight pulse as well as in my case, a slight/minute delay on the nearside.....thinned disks can do that....what is the millage ?
IF it is time to change them now or soon, they are quite cheep and very easy to do at home...I had forgotten how good new Disks & Pads feel compared to just Pads alone.
