04 Picasso - overheating but not

Post by Northern_Mike »

As subject says.. friend at work has an 04 Picasso 2.0 HDi.

STOP warning comes on about engine temp, but it's not overheating. I'll plug the Lexia into it on Monday but I just wondered if anyone could point me to which sensor it's likely to be. ..

There only is one coolant temp sensor on this car, it's the green one in the thermostat housing. Fairly common failure.

one of my customers has an 03 C3 which has an intermittent over heating warning comes up,
it can show its self even when the engine is stone cold,

u tried both temperature senders even tried a thermostat as someone on one forum said it could cause this issue,

never did get to the bottom of it

I think it's a reference voltage fault. Got this on a Berlingo presently.

The water temperature warning light used to come on randomly on our Xantia and a replacement water level sensor has cured it (a pre-enjoyed one).
Twist the head of the sensor by about 90 degrees (on the Xantia) and pull out to change it, once aligned, comes out easily.
If it can happen it will.
