xantia electric seat problem....Any ideas ?

Post by Twickersdude »

1998 Xantia Exclusive Estate - LHD

The passenger electric seat has uncoupled the drive shaft on one side. To repair it I need to remove the seat but am unable to reach the front Torx bolts as I am unable to move the seat back far enough to expose them.

I've tried pushing the seat back using it's power & brute force but it refuses to go back far enough....

Is there a manual release that would allow this or have I missed a trick ?

Michael.

There is a release bar which must pulled upwards and at the same time move the seat forward or backwards. While sitting lower your hand and just below the seat there's the bar, sideways.
Could it be different in electric seat, that I don't know.

I don't think there is. I certainly looked long and hard when attempting to fit my - at the time unpowered - seats in the C5. It wasn't until I fitted the maxi fuse that I could move them sufficiently to access the fixing bolts.

Thanks for the replies.

There's no obvious release bar. I also have a 1999 HDI which had a release / adjustment bar.

I'll have to try removing the motor in the hope that I can wind the seat backwards....

With perverserance, you may be able to unbolt the seat from the tracks.
