i purchased a Bosch lambda sensor in a Bosch box from the E company, fitted it took the car for its re/test and it failed on the lambda sensor, went back to my workshop fitted the old one and it passed the emissions test,

and theres been other doggy parts from them
:/ wonder if I have to worry about the Valeo clutch kit coming from cp4less!
I know I've seen 'many-a-time', someone returning parts to ecp because they, 'ordered the wrong one', and ecp have just put it back into stock... very worrying to what actually happened to the poor part. And then the next punter who picks it up is the one who is left with the potential problem, hmmm.

Ahhh, so I don't need to split the diff off of the gear box as shown below? :)

Nope, no need at all to split the box :) 5 minute job to change both.

It's the kind of job i'd do straight after making a cup of tea while it cools

aha, I've already got the 35mm socket, is the same deep impact jobbie that I needed to get, to fit to the bottom of the tool that fits onto the lower suspension ball joint :)
(..great fun changing these ball joints each year, shows the quality of these q-drive parts :p )

Isn't a specifically thin walled item, but as addo mentioned it fits perfectly onto the hole through the 'steelies' :D

Any replacement bits or special tools?
Or is it just the clutch kit I need really?

it pays to fit new diff seals and fork shaft nylon bush's, you will also need the correct gear oil ( 75/80 BV spec ) other specs are detrimental to PSA box's

i havent read all in the link below but quick glance tell you about PSA specific oil's,
looks an interesting web site

http://www.oilspecifications.org/psa_pe ... itroen.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Ok, so Haynes gave me the run around, go to servicing specifications, go to weekly checks, go to lubricants, go to... ugh.

So here we go:

This this all checks out.

£14 for 2L, this sound bout right? Or are there a better places to get this :/ ?
TOTAL GEARBOX TRANSMISSION OIL BV 75W-80 1LT X2

Anyone know the size of this square oil drain plug tool/s?

getting there... many thanks folks :)

Oh, reckon this clutch change can be done on a couple of front axle stands? :/

i dont think you have to buy Total gear oil in particular,
as long as it states on the container it is suitable for PSA gear box's it should be fine,

also i find buying any oil in 1lt containers the more expensive than a 4 or 5 litre can,

the drain plug key is 8mm square as below

http://www.ebay.co.uk/bhp/citroen-sump-plug" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

i only use a pair of axle stands under the front of the car when replacing a clutch,

Haha! I seem to be purchasing every link you send, maybe you should get some sort of 'rewards' from ebay :p
heheh

Great, thanks for that. Is much better to think ahead and sort all these bits out before attacking a job. Don't fancy having to run round whilst covered in oil looking for something like this when I should just be cracking on with the job at hand :)

Regarding the 1ltr thing, well I don't plan on changing that manual transmission oil again for quite a while and so I only want to get as much as I need so I don't clog up valuable real estate area in the garage!

Do you think there would be any major problems with changing this clutch. by just using axle stands under the front? I'm a little concerned about the clearance underneath? :/

Many thanks

When i pull the box away from the engine i try to rest it best as possible on the subframe edge and a trolly jack.. and another trolly jack under the engine..

Then you do not have the struggle of getting the box back up i to the engine bay after ..

Axle stands under the front subframe and the car on low will pivot the nose of the car up. I've done a couple of clutches on the big engined xantiae like this and it's how i do all major works under the bonnet. You don't really want the nose too high anyway as you won't be able to reach over.

EDIT, and Paul is 100% right it makes life so much easier that way

... So you don't ever actually completely take the transmission out? You just get it off just far enough and wedge it off to one side to allow the removal and replacement of the clutch parts?

As Malcolm pointed out the pin holding the arm to the shaft HAS to be removed to pull the gearbox off. After 17 years this pin (which in theory just pulls out) is likely to be seized solid. You might have to resort to an angle grinder or suchlike which would mean you'd need a new arm and fork assembly. They are only supplied as a pair and last time I bought one they were about £90 (that was about 5 years ago) The clutch release bearing is attached to the clutch cover, so when you replace the gearbox the fingers of the fork have to engage in the slots in the bearing. It should be marked HAUT (top) and BAS (bottom) so it's up the right way, It's not as difficult as it sounds, just fiddly.

I just picked up the diff seals :) ~ £27

ah, yes. Thanks, you read my mind!
I was just thinking about the warning regarding that pin. I'm going to have to find some pictures on here of this situation and figure out what's going on.
So it might just come down to destruction!
Damn. Damn. Damn :(
If the pin 'could' come out, what's the most likely method of getting this pin out without making a right meal of it? Some sort of puller?

Thanks, romie
