Post by langley26 »

Anybody had any experience of remapping the 3.0 HDi engine?? If so who did you use and would you recommend??

Hello and welcome.

I lurk around here a bit and although there are a lot of C5 owners asking and answering questions I can't remember seeing many posts about the 3.0 HDi, apart from this one last year.

I can't help with recommending anyone to remap it, but just out of interest what MPG are you getting and how do you rate the car/engine? I've always liked the idea of having one (some day).

Had the car for over a year now and overall average mpg in 12000miles has been 35.

Knocking around I get low 30's, but have seen up to 46-7 on a steady long run.

The engine is a gem; ample power and always silky smooth. Don't get me wrong this is no sports car, but as a fine relaxing mode of transport it's the business. I'm a little disappointed that I can't get close to the mpg figures that the equivalent Jag XFs allegedly achieve.... or maybe they don't actually do any better in truth??

We do,lots of remaps, mainly for DPF removal, but can offer power & economy maps, cannot comment on your individual car , but a 5 to 10% improvement would be average. We use a third party for our maps, he is one of the best.
Your achieved figures sound about right, I wouldn't take any notice of official figures, they are very misleading.

I ran a C5 3.0 HDi for a year/18,000 miles, and thought it was a brilliant engine and not really in need of a remap.
I've also run a C6 2.7HDi for the last two years. This engine would benefit from a remap in my opinion to overcome some of the lag at low speed and to improve economy.
On the http://www.C6Owners.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; forum several owners have had remaps carried out & reported good results.
A company called Angel Tuning has had positive reviews, although I have had no experience of them.
Just bare in mind that the auto gearbox is being used close to the maximum recommended torque figure with the standard engine power/torque outputs.
