Xantia TD Value

Post by KP »

Just wondering if anyone can help with a rough value on the Xantia TD i have once i have completed it,

Spec will be
Xantia mk1 Desire
With Without rear spoiler
Rusty Jambs repaired and repainted
168k ish miles on the clock.
History is from Gadget Ricey and Fatherjack
Its just had rear hydraulic leak repaired
Will come with 12months MOT
Tax until end of December 2013
Good sound and nice running engine with recent all filter service
Aircon (blows Cold!)
Blower motor replaced
Drivers window rubber seals replaced
Door rubbers replaced at rear
Clean inside an out as well as a good polish
Has exclusive alloys(original fit!)
Full manual Leather interior with Heated option (not tested yet)
Good tyres all round but could possibly do with replacement in next year due to age
Mauritius Blue bodwork
Very soft and supple non hydractive suspension front and rear
Rear drivers side ABS sensor replaced
new wipers front and rear
Tracks and wafts along the road perfectly fine without complaint.
Radio works although i need to find the code for it again as the battery has to be replaced with a known working one as its had enough :(
Battery + terminal clamp replaced

Im thinking about £700 but with the market as it is and ebay being my gauge most seem to go for about £5-600
If i can get just over £700 for it then i'll break even on the money i've put into it if i get the bodywork made mint. If i put less into it i can take less for it as the rusty jambs and some other bits are going to cost me £280 to do :(

Is £700 too much for it? The spoiler is black and in poop condition so will likely be removed and holes filled in as part of the bodywork repairs.

RP No? Date first Reg?
Its just had rear hydraulic leak repaired
what and how?
Rusty Jambs repaired and repainted
Rusty where exactly and how well repaired? Badly is likely to make the car worth no more than scrap value in my opinion.

I just bought an 03 Plate Passat S TDi Estate, with T&T, 131k, full history, in good nick, for £750.

So, I'd say, yes, £700 is way too much for it.

Rear supply pipe leaked repaired using a repair section by Paul's very own hands :)

Rusty jamb cut out, rusty area treated and waxed after new section welded in and then painted. Otherwise cleaned up and painted.

Thing is this would have 0 rot and none of the future rot issues for a good while but guess it's just time to cut my losses with it and see what money I can get back from it instead of dumping more money into a car with little demand in good nick :(

The S2 exclusive alloys that are fitted are not original Fit .. When my customer had it, there was S1 VSX type alloys on her, which she has lost along the way.. However, ALLOYS are the original equipment list.

A Proper repair was done at the rear Guy!

The spoiler is ALSO an Original Equipment fitment too, not an added item. I stole the original spoiler from the owner I know when he had it.

The trouble is that even a well fettled Xantia with slightly lower than average miles on the clock is not in any sort of demand. The only way you will get the demand is if it is near enough perfect/low miles or is a particularly rare model that at least two people want.

I sold my 200k Xantia for £500 Judy over a year ago with some tax and test fairly quickly. The thing that sold that car was my blog.

Hmm
I wonder if it's worth doing but sticking it on the veggie forum and eBay talking about the merits of it being able to run on any old crud....

Look on ebay and see what they are selling for in the real world - not what they are asking but actually selling for - that's what its worth.

Well most are either petrols or hdi's and the only one that's close is one that had one owner and 50k miles no tax and near full mot and just managed £430 :(

I did think the alloys were original but it shouldn't affect insurance anyway as they are worth pretty much little anyway.

Need to find out when the belts were last done really as that's the big thing but at the moment it may just get sold up as it is.
