loss of power
hi i have an xsara picasso when i go out in the morning it starts no problems revs fine but when i put it in gear to pull away it initally is ok for a few seconds then its loses its will to keep going so i dip the clutch it reves up no probs if i do this for a few seconds it seems to clear then it drives ok all day after this i have been told it could be a coil pack or a lamba sensor ??just dont want to spend cash on un needed items the car is a 2000 model just wondered if any one has encountered a similar symptoms and found a cure any help is appreciated thanks in advance jim

took the car to a local garage today seems the 02 sensor is playing up i aslo found out it has the detuned 20ltr pug engine maybe try n get a bit more power if i can get it running proper its always good when you open the hood and the mechanic seems knowledgeable abought the car

Nice result if they are correct... it is nice when someone looks and says aaaahhhh yes rather then a deep inhale breath through their teeth..

just a thought arnt the lambda sensors out of play when the engine is stone cold????
as they only function when they are up to temperature

Yep, a lambda sensor takes anything between about 30 seconds and 3 minutes to warm up (depending on engine, ambient temperature, whether its revved up etc) during which time the ECU is ignoring it so its unlikely to be the problem, although its not impossible.
One way it could be tested would be to unplug the lambda sensor, disconnect the battery for 10 minutes to reset the engine ECU, (resetting fuel trim to defaults) reconnect the battery and take it for a test drive to see if the stumble is gone, if it is reconnect the lambda sensor and see if it comes back.
