Retro fitting auto dim rear view mirror on MK1 C5
As the title says is it an easy job or not? I've bought an auto dim for the bargain price of £5 on eBay. I'm driving an SX at the moment so it has both rain and wiper sensors under the old mirror. Do i need to run additional wiring to the blue 3 pin plug on the auto dim mirror or can i utilise the wiring already there on the sensors? Anybody else done this mod who can offer any advise?

Where, hidden away? All i've got is the two plugs going to the sensors for auto wipers and auto lights.

Re: Retro fitting auto dim rear view mirror on MK1 C5
I used to love adding bits to my cars. My other car now driven by her in doors was less than 2 years old when I got it a Mondeo 1.8 lx. Had it 11 years and is now 99% a Ghia x with leather, elec rear windows, cruise, wood trim and much more.
I thought when getting the C5 I would just get the top model but now got nothing to add or change.

You've got me interested now, does the mirror tilt or just go dark at night?
It infuriates me to be wrong when I know I'm right

Re: Retro fitting auto dim rear view mirror on MK1 C5
I had this on my Skoda Octavia. The mirror has two light sensors fitted, one on the front (looking out of the windscreen), and this provides a light level reference, while the other (which is mounted on the back) sees the light level hitting the mirror itself. If the front sensor sees it is night, and some prat comes up behind you on full beam, the mirror then powers up the LCD filter (and the level of filtering is determined by the difference between the reference sensor and the reaction sensor). The greater the difference the darker the filter gets. Very effective, and I did like it.

It was an easy job on the Xantia... I got mine from a Laguna.. connected it into the reading light.. maybe half an hour or so .. its been great for the past 8 years.
