94 (L) Xantia 1.9d alternator woes

Hi again

The old girl's alternator started playing up today

Does anyone know if the brush pack is replaceable seperately>

It's a 1994 Xantia 1.9d with the XUD engine (LX spec)

They are indeed, when I was having alternator trouble someone linked me to this chappie on YouTube: " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Hopefully it's just the brushes, on mine the slip rings had worn through Got a new one in the end out of desperation.

you also have to be aware that the new brush's, either way , if you just do as in the youtube video, or if you fit a complete new regulator,
the new brush's must be able to sit flat onto the slip ring, and not ride on the two edges of the grove, as this will just result in you burning out the slip ring/brush/s,

here is an example of a new regulator on ebay, not specifically for your car, you will need all the references from your alternator, then the likes of that ebay company, or GSF should be able to sort the correct one

I got a reconditioned alternator today. 2 year warranty for £72 + VAT. Decided to just replace the whole thing as it seemed like the easiest, quickest and most reliable, long term solution.
