Well, it didn't take long. Opened the rear windows and now they are stuck down, any ideas anyone?

What in?

One of my rear windows can be 'difficult'. If you try and close it with the button on the driver's door it opens fully, fails to respond a few times then closes. Also works as intended from the key fob and closes if it rains so just the control I presume. Haven't tried it with the control on the door in question. Only had the car for 15 months so haven't had time for that yet.

Sorry, yes a C5. I can hear a relay click on the left hand window but not on the right when using the driver door buttons but nothing with the rear buttons. The button on the fob doesn't close them and it hasn't rained yet.

Got that Lexia on order yet Stempy ? I don't think I would own a Citroen newer than a Xantia without one...

Not that a Lexia is necessarily going to help with this particular issue.

I reckon they should supply Lexias as standard equipment with each car. I was wondering whether control of the windows could be done via the Lexia. There must be a window control ECU in there somewhere. Thankfully this is a kind of project car and I don't have to rely on it, I've got a Honda for the reliable bit, dull but functional.

The Lexia has a thing for drivers door module and passenger door module. Might be able to do actuator tests for window controls, never had an interest in looking into those sections so don't know for certain :)

Childproof switch only applies to the controls on the rear doors, the driver's ones still work with the childproof active :) which from my understanding of stempy's post is what he is using.

Been searching the forum and net in general and it seems that all sorts of electrical weirdness can be attributed to a poor battery duffing up the BSI computer and I note that this one does struggle to turn the motor over. It also appears that there is a special elongated procedure to go through when fitting a new one so I will have to try a new battery and go through the procedure I suppose and see what happens.

It's a reflection of intrinsic design flaws in the system, that the BSI can be so sensitive. But, they sometimes do respond positively to the process when small niggles are present. It may be worth checking the battery for charge depth in case that is the weakness in your system. Failing cells often manifest first as repeated faults with the ABS or VDC setups.

I had one like this.
The window switch module is less robust under the skin than it looks, and uses conductive rubber pads which contact PCB tracks, like a TV remote control. It can be opened up with care, and the contacts cleaned, which worked for me.

Ok, so I stuck a replacement battery in and went through the 'procedure' and so far everything is back to normal, so fingers crossed it stays that way [-o<

Well almost everything works, still no screen washer pump, fuse seems ok, and although all windows work now, the front passenger one doesn't close from the key fob button, all others and sunroof do.
