2009 C5 1.6 HDi 110 - aux belt length?

Post by spako »

I ordered a new alternator belt for my car (reg no MA59 AKG) from Euro Car Parts and received 6PK1710 one.

I've just had a look under the bonnet and seen that it's got a much shorter 6PK976 fitted.

Any idea which is the correct one? If it's an incorrect one fitted at the moment, this would explain why the air con is not working.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Post up the last 8 digits of the VIN and we can check on service.citroen - 1710 looks right for engine drive PAS pump, 976 is right for electric PAS pump.

976 looks to be the correct one:

BTW anyone else getting "Corvet@ not available" on service.citroen.com when looking up a VIN? (had to use DocBackup for this).

Yes, I was getting that too - fixed now. It often goes into a tailspin over the weekend, then gets fixed when the techs come in on Monday morning!

Many thanks for clarifying this.

Now how do I loosen the tensioner to replace the belt?

And as if by magic, I've just put some drive/aux/poly V belts up for sale on the For Sale & Wanted section. I've a genuine Citroen 6PK976 for sale, but it's listed as part number 5750YS
Sadly no longer a C5 owner :(

here is price and part No. from citroen, although i would go to GSF as it will more thn likely be a lower price, but still a Gates or Daco belt,

Part Number Description Quantity Price excl. VAT Price incl. VAT Total incl. VAT Selection
00005750YQ DRIVE BELT 20.19 GBP 24.23 GBP 24.23 GBP

the auto tensioner has either a square hole in the casting, i think 3/8ths for a socket drive to fit into to lever the swinging arm back off tension, then peg it off whilst you change the belt,
or there will be a bolt head on the center of the tensioner wheel you place a spanner on to lever the pulley off tension,
