What is this TEL button for?

Post by begins »

Dear all,

Pardon my ignorance with my year 2007 Citroen C5, what is this TEL button found at the HU for? is it something like a handsfree speaker that I can pair with, using an aftermarket bluetooth device?

I'm browsing the e-bay to get a reliable handsfree bluetooth speaker and wonder what other options do I have.

Kindly advise me and Thank you very much.

It's for when you have the Citroen Bluetooth adaptor fitted.
When I had a 56 plate C5 I did look around the webs for one but all I could find out was it was some kind of parrot that plugged in behind radio.
The button does nothing without it, and I don't know if all the mic wiring is there on all cars either.

Or alter the tracking by putting it William Tel mode. Makes it arrow straight

Can't help with the TEL button.

We have had various Bluetooth kits over the years. The winner for simplicity and reliability is a Samsung HF1000 which has outlasted all others. Clips to sunvisor, small, charge it every month or so. sound quality is good enough unless you are expecting to make long business calls.

Hi Richard,

Thank you very much for your recommendation.

I used to own 2 of those bluetooth wireless speakers with visor clip in the past. The result is far from ideal. A lot of distortion and the party at the other end always complain about my voice being too soft or barely hear me. I have since given them away.
So I’m quite hesitate of getting another one, unless due to changes in technology, these type of bluetooth speakers are getting highly reliable, solid sound quality and easy to pair with phone.

I’ve looked at HF1000 in ebay, looks sorta bulky to me. Of course, sound quality matters most. Unless, there are really much better out there.

There's a whole section in the navigation/computer/radio handbook about the built in 'carphone' and 'carphone mode' (the TEL button), if you haven't got a copy I'll scan it for you.

It's a GSM phone integrated into the radio with a microphone built into the front interior lamp.

I think only the sat nav version has the built in phone?
It needs a SIM card and is much better quality than the Bluetooth one in my 2010 c5

Hi all,

After much thoughts, I've decided to simply buy an air vent hook to secure my HTC desire X. The phone has a "CAR" apps in it and I can use it like a speaker phone without the hassle of bluetooth pairing and FM transmission. Now waiting for the hook, which I've ordered from Ebay.
