Advice please

Post by Bandit12 »

hi guys, I've just bought a litre of DPX42 and filling kit with the pipes etc for my 2.2 C5. I've located all the necessary components but my question is how do I separate the thin breather tube so i can attach the kit and fill the tank? Do I separate at that little 'elbow'? I would like to get this done this evening as heading of to cornwall tomorrow for the weekend.

Many thanks

i dont know on the C5 but on an 05 307 HDI you disconnect at one of the plug on connectors,
squeeze/press the two tabs in, then whilst you hold the tabs in pull the connector away,

also on the 307 it had two different sized connectors, so you disconnect the one the same size as the one with the filling kit

Have sent you a PM with the Citroen document on it. Whether it's any good or not is another matter...

Seems like 5 litres is needed though to top it up completely, and a lexia to reset the counter.

Many thanks to you Citronut for explaining how to separate the connector and to you Ben for the PM with the link to the clear pictures.

I'm hoping that once the bottles are setup it should be a fairly simple process. (He said with fingers crossed) :-)

A quick update to say the jobs all done and only took 30 minutes. The tricky part was disconnecting both the white cap and the filler pipe while lying underneath the car but once both of those were off then the rest was seemples.
The process did make my girlfriend laugh when she saw a big white bottle hanging upside down from the roof bar with a pipe dissappearing into the rear wheel arch. We both work in a hospital and she said it looked like I was giving my car an I.V. drip!
Many thanks for all your help guys :-)

I am pleased to confirm that the patient not only recovered but did just short of 700 trouble free miles in 4 days. On the way down it popped up with " please clean diesel filter as soon as possible" which dissappeared after a few seconds. Everything worked perfectly and it is such a comfortable car to drive. Took advantage of the 12v socket in the boot and hooked up a small fridge with champagne chilling as we drove.
Even took it across dartmoor and the steep hills were no prob. Proper happy :-)
Only thing that spoiled it was some t**t in a beaten up old volvo came hairing round the corner on a narrow country lane and broke my drivers wing mirror! the housing is fine but the glass came out! I stopped to assess damage but he carried on going. Although the glass is in one piece it is cracked in a few places and I have the MOT booked for today-typical, spending my luch break on fleabay lookin for another:-(

you do know you are meant to crack the champers bottle across her bow as you launch her, not after the maiden voyage!!!,

with the mirror you can always pick up a stick on replacment just for the MOT, these use to be around £5 quid'ish fromt the motor factors

There was something in the back of my mind that said you only needed two mirrors for the MOT... it's true, HOWEVER, one MUST be the drivers side mirror.

Checked service.citroen.com, they want £36.47 for the glass

I'm pleased to say that she passed the MOT with flying colours despite a cracked drivers mirror. The Tester even commented on what a lovely clean car it is. Thought about crackin the champange on the bonnet before the maiden voyage but decided it would be a waste of good wine so we drunk it to celebrate safe arrival in cornwall instead :-) haha

thanks for the posts on new mirrors guys I'll take a proper look at lunchtime.

Bandit :-)
