WOOHOO! Syn-Bus Rides Again!!!
This is practically spam, but I just wanted to share the good news =)
The Syn-Bus went through its MOT yesterday.... Straight through... No advisories and only a £10 Headlight adjust and delivery fee to pay on top of the mot cost!
We had expected a bill for a couple of hundred quid....
Super Happy! (replaced the old baldy tyres with a set of alloys with good tyres for half the price of a set of cheapie new tyres too, so double result there )
Not Bad for a ropey old dog carrier (ex owners words) on 182'000 miles....

Are these Synergies any good? I've been eyeing them up as I could do with a big people/cargo lugger.

Re: WOOHOO! Syn-Bus Rides Again!!!
There are two things I would like to change about mine Tim....
1. More Power....
2. Hydropneumatic suspension...
3. More power...
Other than that I think they are brill.... Extremely maneuverable, easy to park, seats 7 reasonably comfortably, takes a full sheet (british standard size) of ply (just), the seats are super easy to whip in and out and, much like the Xantia, most things seem easily fixable for pocket change. Although I have the TD which will run on bio or veggie with no real concern I would probably recommend the HDi for that little extra power and refinement,. They are also very good for towing =)
Here's a debate some of us added our tuppenceworth too....-----> Synergie Vs Xantia Thread

Does 'changing' equate to 'topping up very regularly' ???Harlequin wrote:keep changing the oil (asda have Castrol 15w40 for £12 atm - carparts4less have the oil filter for £3)

oO
in 6 months mine has only `used` about 1/4 of a litre at most - and pulls like a train between 2000 and 3500 rpm (although I don't usually go above 3k)

Re: WOOHOO! Syn-Bus Rides Again!!!
Ah I exadgerate with the oil usage, but she does have a leak or two, or three...
With the new wheels and tyres on (correct size, as opposed to what was on there at time of purchase) I have managed to get 80 out of it, but that was a bit rattly and scary.... I think the ol whistley turbo might be a bit tired.... But to be fair everything on it is a bit tired so it marries up well.... Plus, power wise, I am kind of comparing the poor old thing to my 2.2 DTi SRi 16v Vauxhall Vectrarse racing tractor that I use for commuting.... That thing goes!!!

36 psi all round I run at on the 205/65 T 15``s on mine , tbh I don't go mental , although have had it over 90 once , just see what she can do when wound up , although it revs out in 3rd , wont in 4th or 5th

Re: WOOHOO! Syn-Bus Rides Again!!!
205/65's eh? Thats what was on mine, but I bought a set of wheels off a Ulysse which had 205/60's on... now it rolls really nice and is a touch more spritely on its feet & takes the roundabouts a bit better =) I've got them at 35psi, which to be honest was a guess....
Yeah thats pretty much where the Syn Bus is at... can almost get to 4700rpm in third, but you can tell its hurting the poor beast...

I don't bother revving it - not a lot of point , makes noise but shifting at 3k makes for better progress

Should I be concerned at the whistling turbo, do you think? I hope not... I quite like that the bus sounds like a train =)

Re: WOOHOO! Syn-Bus Rides Again!!!
Ah.... So its not normal then... perhaps a boost leak of some sort? that might explain some of the oil!!!

Re: WOOHOO! Syn-Bus Rides Again!!!
boost leak would be quite a bit smokey so I believe , I think mines more inlet side or maybe a sticking waste gate. or just needs a damn good clean
