temperature gauge

just noticed my temperature gauge is only working now and then,it says 0 then it would show 2 or 3 bars then back to 0 car is a citroen xsara Picasso desire 2.0 hdi 03,,any ideas what this can be

Going by your brief description, it sounds like a faulty temperature sender, one of these things:


Fairly inexpensive to replace:

Alternatively, if you have someone with a lexia nearbythen readings of the coolant temperature can be taken whilst driving around, to see if that's jumping around, to confirm it is the sender.
