I couldn't afford to run it, but I've always loved the look of the big Citroen. If I were rich and could afford another car, I'd buy it.

Re: I would love to own this...
Even though I like the styling of the Xantia a lot and the XM has a lot of the same styling cues, somehow it just doesn't work for me... I think it's the wedge front end, the overall proportions, and the somewhat odd looking rear end...
Not that its a bad looking car, but I think the styling hasn't aged as well as the Xantia, perhaps not surprising when it pre-dates the Xantia. A nicely kept Xantia especially series 2 (yes I now prefer the S2 nose after owning one, after having prefered the S1 nose when I owned one of those ) still looks very sharp and modern, not dated in my opinion, albeit different in styling to the current bloated lardy arsed cars currently on sale. Modern but a bit different.
The XM though to me looks both impressive, yet goofy at the same time...

From that angle it looks like a Xantia on steroids.

It does, but check the rear angle shots and its totally different.SaabC5 wrote:From that angle it looks like a Xantia on steroids.
The rear actually reminds me of the SM. To me the styling of the SM is fabulous (if impractical) in every area EXCEPT for the rear end, which looks terrible and really dates it. The XM has the same sort of disappointing rear end.

Nice, but I think it has the wrong engine. From what I have read, the ES9 engine is the one you want. This probably has got the PRV unit.
