I wouldn't personally, I'm not a massive fan of the XUD engines when compared to a HDi. Yes they tend to be fairly reliable (HGF aside) and they can run on just about anything but I like the refinement, driveability and performance that the HDi offers.

Veg oil is not something I have been all that tempted by, the fact it can be gotten for less than diesel is of course a plus but the XUD is not as good on fuel as the HDi and I understand running on veg can bring its own problems.

Keep the HDi, you already have the best engine for a Xantia, especially if its a 110.

I find that with my normal driving I get about 50MPG but with a few changes and thinking about economy I can see this up to 60MPG without too much effort or speed lost. Try altering your driving style, that's a far better way of getting more from your fuel than swapping car. When I want better economy I drive for it but generally I get to places without sparing the horses ...

Each to their own Paul

I'm not sure what I would choose between a 90 HDi and 1.9XUD, most likely the HDi and have a remap.

Don't get me wrong, the XUD certainly has its merits and has proven to be an excellent engine, though I prefer the drive of a good HDi. However, I do find HDis can vary a lot and have driven a few sluggish ones.

On the aside, does the EPIC one pull as well below 1500 rpm as the Bosch one?

I'm going to be keeping mine for the forseeable now... Took it for a spin out in the countryside in the sun today. It's just a great car to drive AND has the power to overtake the old farts doing 36 on the A roads.
