What are you going to do Taffy? Fit it or cook it for dinner?

:)

No need of a SEEM meter, that's just the BoL being safe against claims..

Basically, the tension is Ok when you can just turn the belt through 90 degrees between finger and thumb on its longest run which in practice is the run between the cam and pump sprockets across the top effectively...

The rockers are designed to be the weak link. In the past, when a timing belt failed it could cause catastrophic failures. On the HDi engines the rockers break, rather than something more expensive, a bit like the fuse in a plug.

Hi There,
I have a complete 110HDi engine block with the head attached!
The engine came out of my previous xantia and runs!
I have stripped almost all the external parts from it,
but like I say it was running when i removed it, with NO damage to it. :-D
Maybe this might be of use?
Let me know if your interested?
Bryan.

Hi Taffy,
I have removed the head today,
The bottom end is going tomorrow to be scrapped as I need that out of my friends yard.
So no problems, it was just an idea, but I still have the head.
All The best,
Bryan.

FEAR NOT Taffy REALLY!

I have been here! There will be little internal damage.. The one I had break was dooing 50mph when it went!

Fitted the rockers, timed it all up again and it went for another 50k... no problem!

As for fuel pump, as I said before HDi 90 8v or 1108v, it does NOT MATTER, the pumps will run both.. All it does is supply high delivery fuel to the rail... that doesn;t affect 110 bhp or 90bhp... So, stick it on.. it will be fine!

Ive done quite a bit of HDi internal and external work, without needing a Lexia to get me out.. But its still handy to have one, on that just incase sinario..

ALSO, you can tell by listening too if a belt is too tight, but the PITA thing is you need the bottom pully on before running the engine or the belt will run off. But, a belt thats too tight can be heard when the engine "Whines" and you can hear the "Whine" too...

CERTAIN fiats Taffy

The Fiat VANS use the HDi 8v, as they are a joint venture with PSA.. but the Fiat Cars use GM Engines, their own Multi jet. The Vans are still badged multijet though.

The 2001 to 2007 Suzuki Vitara uses the HDi 8v engine too!!
