Hi Everyone
I've recently noticed this broken pushrod on the right hand side of my engine (2.2 HDi). Pics attached.
I spotted it just before I started a 500 mile trip from Scotland back home to Devon and it made no difference to performance or economy.
Can anyone tell me what it does and how I can get a replacement.
Thanks
Tully

It's the swirl valve actuator. A vacuum diaphragm that pulls the rod allowing air into the other 4 inlet valves at high load. Normally these 16v engines only use 4 inlet valves (1 per cylinder), the remaining 4 blocked off by butterfly valves in the head. This thing opens those valves allow fast moving air to swirl its way into the cylinders, the theory being this system gives better fuel economy.
I replaced mine without too much fuss entirely from above the engine, but it is fiddly. Around £20 from any Citroen / Peugeot dealer.

Thanks RustyUK
I've seen new ones on ebay for around £21. I'll maybe try a spot of Araldite in the meantime.
