There is something about Xantias that does not suit short people. Women are often shorter than men.

My wife has crashed or scraped every Xantia I've had since I've known her. She's never (touchwood) so much as marked any of the other cars. She's 5'4" or about 164cm for our European friends..

My partner and daughter both drive mine. The former reluctantly the latter in preference to our Berlingo. Both are only just five foot and have trouble seeing the extremities. D has scratched three corners two on same (very tight) car park.

My second daughter had a Xantia and loved it.
My youngest daughter would certainly not have second thoughts about driving one and often uses my C5. We swap cars quite frequently.
Eldest daughter would hate it, she only likes dodgems.

I see lots of women driving C5s. All seem quite at home doing it.

Yep, size and gender have little bearing on ability I always find. I've seen some 6 footers who I wouldn't let drive my bleedin lawn mower. How tall was Schumacher?
If a short person, or a lady driver feels comfortable in a car then they will probably be a good driver. If they don't feel comfortable, they probably won't drive it.
That said, we have a taxi firm who use Mk1 facelift cars and one of the drivers is a woman. Ihave no idea how tall she is, but I do know that she is possibly one of the worst drivers I have ever managed to avoid (more than once). She drives with complete and utter disregard for other road users, no signals, cutting accross at junctions, stopping just about anywhere, including at pelican crossings but I don't believe for one minute it's because she's a woman, she's just an incredibly bad driver.

My wifes had 3 Xantias and loved em all , she'd buy another if they still made them , she's not a fan of the C5 though .

Wife hated them all. She felt stuck down in in seat and found it awkward to get out. She is small but nimble.

I think she hated me working on them all the time  On that basis why not get rid of garden? Temporary niceness that kills her with work. She keeps garden to stop me putting projects there I think :-D

Nice one Alex, next time my other half asks why I'm working on the car every month I'll use a garden analogy! It needs tending like a garden to keep it in full bloom! :-D

PS my mum drives a 1993 1.9TD SX and has for over 5 years, partly so she can run it on veg!

Am I the only person who sees the thread title and every time, thinks of the Beastie Boys' "Hey Ladies"? A classic piece of self-deprecating retro-disco-funk-schtick.

I really don't like the BBoys but was referring to the crimewave they originated (kids stealing VW badges).
