Xantia pump feed pipe leak

Post by mirafioriman »

The other day my early Xantia 1.9d sinker stop light stayed on much longer than usual and the car was slow to rise. I checked the LHM level when I got to work and it was low. The pump area was wet with LHM. I thought it might be the feedpipe (hoped it was rather than the pump!) and I looked at it tonight.

The pipe was indeed damaged and had a large split in it under the clip area where it goes over the fitting. However, the problem was when I removed the pipe (after loosening the clip) the metal part the pipe goes over came out of the pump

I cut the split part off the pipe and put the metal part back in and got it all back together. It's hard to tell if it is leaking or not yet as I need to clean the area and see if the LHM level goes down but I have a couple of questions.

Does anyone know if the rubber feed pipe is still available and how should the metal part be held in the pump?

Wow, thats a new one on me!

The pipe is part of the return hose which are joined under the tank, which I think the return joins to the smaller return hoses. makes the pipe a non cheap one, HOWEVER, they are NFP!

EDIT: Just checked Service Citroen, the suction FEED pipe is Still apparently available, pt. no. 4023 05 but the return pipes dont seem to be. The Micro fitch shows them as seperate, but Im sure the feed pipe is joind at least to the Regulator return pipe...

No idea how to retain the feed in pipe...

Thanks, I'll have to visit the dealer and see if they can get it and at what price :)

I'll see if the metal part causes a problem and take it from there......

The feed and return are joined down on the side of the resevior.
You can saw them apart though.
Or, buy some inexpensive silicone hose from the turbo guys on ebay and use that instead.

i have seen the metal feed spout of the pump come away before, they are an interference fit, try knocking it back in with something that aint going to damage it, maybe with some locktight on, if you can clean/dry the area first that is,

otherwise it might need knurling to help it grip, and use some locktight
