hi to all just finished putting gearbox back on xsara 2.0 hdi ph1 after engine swap everything went together fine all gearbox linkages in good order problem after refitting gearbox im missing 2 gears 5th and reverse dont know what i have done wrong is there a way of finding the gears if i take linkages of again thanks

hi and welcome

i can see how you can affect the gear selecting/tion by disconnecting the gear change linkage's/rods,

unless you have physically altered their lengths of the rods, or possibly fitted them back to the wrong points ( dont thing this is possible ) but you never know,

can you send me the last 8 digits of your chassis/VIN No. so i can look on service citroen at what set up you have,

looking at the layout on service citroen of the specific linkage for your car
the only possibility i can see is you might have connected the two short link rod to the wrong points, as one is just above the other and they lay along side each other,

one of the link rods it fitted onto a ball attached top a small bracket , which is fixed to the back of the diff housing held there by two 11mm ( i think ) nuts, and the other end goes onto the lower ball of the two that are one above the other, ( if that makes sense
