Still got Xantia water leak woes :(

Post by mirafioriman »

Well, despite checking and sealing lots of things I still seem to have a bad water leak into the rear of my early Xantia hatch. It seems to be appearing in the right rear corner of the boot and running forward into the rear seat area.

The rear interior and carpets including the boot carpets are all stripped out. I went out tonight and poured water from a watering can into the rear hatch channel area and around the rear lights with the tailgate open and there was no sign of any leaks.

I've had the headlining out and checked the sunroof drains are all clear and flowing twice now and all seems fine however something is nagging at me that it is indeed the sunroof.

Unless someone can suggest any other possible sources of water ingress I'm going to tape up the sunroof with ducktape and a heavy duty bin liner to erradicate any possibility of it letting water in and see what happens.

Have you checked the roof bar screw holes above each door are still covered in their factory latex?
Peel back the door/roof seal to check them.

Thanks for the reply. Someone else mentioned this a while back and I sealed them with tigerseal.

As the watering can didn't help trace the leak, you'll have to resort to the hose pipe.
