Re: First and Last Xantia Comparison

I'm biased as I own an early series 1 sinker but I have to be honest and say I prefer the interior and exterior design features of the original early cars.

Athough I'm sure the HDI engine in the later cars is much better I do much prefer the original design. I really should drop in a 110 HDI engine and box into my early sinker :)

I like my S2 but it is the only Xantia I have had so no comparisons, but interesting to see the differences.
I did like the comment on the S2 'door pocket' in the handle which not many seem to know about, I only found it by accident.

Being in France I was stopped in one of their ever popular random stops and asked for my paperwork. The guy was most impressed when I took it out of it's hiding place.
I never like carrying all documents, as we have to here, and having them hidden is a help. Always thought somebody taking the car was bad enough but giving them the log book and my driving licence as an added gift was a bit much.

In the early 90’s I was running a 17d BX (the row it along with the gear stick one) and looked at the ‘new’ Xantia and was not impressed – It just didn’t feel right to me, couldn’t put my finger on it. I finished up with a CX DTR Safari from Roger and loved it. Later I moved onto a XM for 16 years BUT I did like the series 2 Xantia and now own a 1999 3.0 V6 with low mileage and really enjoy it.
The headlamps on my Xantia are far superior to the 1994 series 2 XM I owned. I changed the bulbs to higher output/spec ones but even then the Xantia lamps are much better.
The ‘hidden’ door pockets are good but not so ‘hidden’ as the four on the XM.

My L reg anti sinker xantia has the top cover too but ive seen M reg cars with the later full size box..
Mines a 1995 N reg that was registered on the 19th August 95 but the RDM date says it was made on the 3rd May 95 so is not a sinker but still early. 8-)
I also like the early styling with black bumpers etc and I'm also pleased mines just before engine management came in on the diesel. :-D

I don't know if any of you guys noticed but i took a shine to the Silver one in the Background :).That looked nice..But from the 2 i would always go with a non sinking version..and the HDi is an engine i love:)
Especially the 110..don't ask me why because i have no idea :p

It is interesting how Citroen has made the same car so very different. I find between my S1 and S2 there are so many small changes which make a big difference to the feel of the car. I prefer S1s for purity and looks but the S2 certainly has its appealing features. I like them both :-D

Wish I made a note of the 52 Plate Xantia's RP Number we had here - would have been interesting to see just how long it sat around...!

RP numers for each DAY, so yes, depending how quick the frogs worked when assembling, there could be 100 cars with the same RP or 300 with the same..

I know of an XM with the same RP as one of mine, and it lives in the same yard!! :-D :-D

Mods... Could you have a look at my posts and see where it's pointing to for the images for this post please. I thought I had uploaded them to the server. I don't know where my copies are anymore. Sadly.

The first image is

, which seems to be broken. I may have a backup of the images, but it would take a while to locate them.
