Does anyone have one of these spare.....

Post by cc101 »

Hi all, I'm after one of these bolts and two washers that connects the oil pipe to the turbo. Does anyone know the part number if no one has one, see pic below.

Cheers

It's not listed separately, so it must be an internal part of the turbo. It *should* just be a std banjo bolt. Ha ha!!! Got to ask - what happened to the original one....????

Ah, if you've got the bits of the original, then you should be able to measure the length, thread size, and hole configuration, then go googling for banjo bolts - my guess will be its standard and a new one can be procured easily. I suspect the 20Nm refers to the oil feed pipe on the top of the turbo, just above the snapped banjo.

20Nm is far too tight for a Banjo bolt - it only needs to be nipped-up tight enough so that it doesn't undo or leak.

BTW, when re-using copper sealing washers they should be annealed to soften them (the action of tightening the bolt tends to work-harden the faces making them less likely to seal properly second-time round) - dangle on a steel wire in a blow-torch flame over a bucket of water (or a puddle!) until they reach dull red heat then drop straight into the water. Yes, that IS right, the opposite of annealing ferrous metals.

I've got one of those, if it's the one with a round and 10 mm hollow socket head (Allen screw)
PM me your address and I'll pop it in the post for you.

Its highly likely Id be able to find one..

Theres a few Turbos about, and im CERTAIN theres a buggered one at mums which I can whip this bolt out..

The Pump bango on the fuel inlet is too big Im sure, and the return banjo on the side of the fuel pump has a tiny bore...

EDIT:

Sorry can't help with that one, I think the one I have might have come off a KKK turbo from a C5 HDI.

Does anyone know what the pipe is for that the banjo bolt screws into as there is already a supply and exit pipe? Cheers.

Its the wastegate control pipe working on pressure to open the wastegate when the set boost it reached.

I think they work on a normally closed gate which then opens when boost is reached to prevent over boost..

Ah so it's not an oil supply pipe so could be blocked off to increase boost.....!
