Citroen berlingo steering

Post by pigpog »

Hi Everyone, just joined as I hope someone can help me with a problem I have with my Berlingo. I have a 57 plate 1.6HDI Berlingo van which has been an excellent vehicle. However, overnight the steering has become heavy and snatchy. The fluid looks fine as do the belts. Any ideas? or is it a new rack or pump? Is there away to tell if the fault lies with the pump or rack?

Cheers

Initial thought suggests the pump at fault.

With the engine running can you hear any odd noises from the pump (usual precautions about being near running engines) ?

Failing that can you see fluid being moved / returned to the power steering reservoir with the engine idling ?
