Oh well, in that case it can have a bar on the crank to see if it'll spin and then we'll have a look at why it won't start.

Have got a replacement starter motor from ebay for 20 quid so might take it with me. Not really sure I fancy changing it lying on my back under it though.

It certainly is but the starter on the V6 is under the front manifold. To take it off you need to remove the oil filter, remove a heat shield and then faff around trying to get the bolts out of the starter.

Removing the oil filter is inevitably going to leave you lying in a puddle of oil too.

I spoke to a mate of mine who works as a master tech in a Peugeot dealer and he reckons that it'll either be a bad earth or a seized starter so fingers crossed it'll not be anything sinister.
