Re: belt up c5!
Im sure there has been a thread recently about the freewheel pulley on the alternator seizing up such that the alternator fails to either engage of disengage. Given the burning rubber smell you mention I'd suggest that maybe the pulley is seized and the belt is having to rub over it rather than rotating. Have you eyeballed the pulley (with engine running) to see whether it is rotating or not, Sam

Re: belt up c5!
Where's it leaking from? A front sphere if it's just the sphere is easy. Or is it the strut - not too hard either, really.

Re: belt up c5!
Sounds like it might just be the leak off hose - a rubber pipe about 10mm dia that runs from the bottom of the strut to the inner wheel arch. If your garage can't change one of these, then you need to find a new one OK, the clip's a bit tricky to close, but do-able with carpenter's pincers. Post a pic if you can and we can confirm diagnosis.

Re: belt up c5!
What they mean is they haven't got a clue about Citroen hydraulics, and there's no profit in finding out. If you're not prepared to do it yourself, you need to find a good local Citroen independent.thefrenchconnection wrote:well got the car back from the garage it was a seized crankshaft pulley so new pulley and a belt and running fine the garage has informed me the nearside front sphere is leaking but they cannot do the job as they havent the tools, how hard are these to replace?
