Hi Mike,
I know from the C5 the battery cable is dependent on the gearbox, looking on service.citroen.com, it's similar for the S2 xantia, but to answer your question, it doesn't look like they are all the same length:
BATTERY POSITIVE CABLE
5642 F1 LONG 910 Auto gearbox AL4, BVM ML5T
5642 J4 NFP
On the 1.6 Xantia S2 there is 2 extra positive cable types:
5642 E7 - LONG 940 MARKING 9623180880 - WITHOUT AIR CONDITIONING
5642 E8 - LONG 940 - AIR CONDITIONING
On the 1.8 there's some more too:
5642 E9 - LONG 750- AIR CONDITIONING
5642 L7 NFP -LONG 750 - WITHOUT AIR CONDITIONING AND 1 FAN , 1 RATE
BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE
5638 A5 LONG 610 EXCEPT HP20 (AG) EXCEPT Auto gearbox AL4 EXCEPT BVM ML5T
5638 A7 NFP LONG 730 HP20 (AG), Auto gearbox AL4, BVM ML5T
So there are a few lengths for each to watch out for... I doubt the C5 negative cable (for a manual box) I have lying around would be suitable for your V6.
