Don't think the washers are required - should be easy enough with the gearbox out of the way - access is pretty limited normally, but if you wind the steering onto full LH lock with the box out, the joint shold be right there exposed at the back of the engine bay

I doubt that taking the box out is normally a good way to do this job though

how dod you manage to detroy the intermediate bearing, as the bit you hit is a spacer collar which is against the bearing,

I believe that with a little ingenuity that bearing can be replaced Taffy.. It's a pretty standard sort and can be sourced (I believe) from generic bearing suppliers at an economical cost.

Getting the old one off is not a problem as it almost is and all you'll beed to do is fabricate a long hollow mandrel (a piece of scaffold tube perhaps) to drive the new one home..

If you know the dimensions, shielding and ball-count then this mob should be able to supply...

It's still available from Citroen - but does cost £21  says its 35 x 62 x 16 - I imagine it's a metal sealed bearing. Unfortunately seems to be a non std size (there's a surprise  ) - simply bearings list 14 and 18mm but not 16mm. I'd have thought a 14 would do it - take the slack up in the retaining bolts. A more reasonable £5 or so

Ahh sorry Taffy, I mis-read what bearing you were speaking of...

I guess you mean the tripod ones inside the CV joint..

If you can find all of the spilt needles you can rebuild it...

if you send me the last 8 digits of your chassis/VIN No., i will check which shaft fits your car and do an all families search to check which other models use the same shaft,
then you can try and get one from the breakers,

all being you cant find all the needle rollers
