Hose connectors and internal diameter of pipes

Post by charentejohn »

Just bought a couple of connectors (they only sent one but that's another story) for my Xantia hydraulic pump inlet pipe.
It is 8mm internal diameter so I ordered connectors for that, they sent a 7mm internal dia. connector and are trying to tell me that is correct. That is the connector is to fit an 8mm pipe so internal is 7mm ???
Don't think so, if a connector doesn't maintain the internal pipe diameter it is a reducer ? Basically if the walls of the connector were thicker it could have been 6mm internal or less.
Surely a connector's size should be given as maintaining pipe diameter and so flow rate.
Good old E-bay, I think I will stick to Amazon or buy local in future so I can see what I am getting, or at least return it.
