Post by lewis18 »

My car door blew open in the wind and after then I got into the car and tried to shut it and it seems to of saged down and won't close without force and its out of alignment. Can someone please help me on any tips of quick strategys to fix it, money is short so any suggestion would be great. Oh and it's a 2008 coupe c4, thanks

Well that's quite amazing if that's the case...

There's 5 C4 Coupe's on this forum and every single one is Black! :shock:

Mine, Yours, FakeConcern's, Davie's and Captain Slow's...

I'm sure someone will be able to advise, hopefully just needs a bit of adjustment perhaps.

The problem is the C4 coupes doors are so big they have their own postcode (apparently).
I know that the doors being out of alignment is a known problem & something you are meant to look for when buying.
I can only suggest the usual solution of loosening the striker plates etc while you carefully close then open the door & tighten the bolts again.

So another BLACK C4 Coupe, as I said before we should have our own breakaway section on the forum!

Hello fellow black coupe owner. If the door is low in the door frame could put the jack under the door, with a block of wood inbetween, and lift it a bit. Worked for me once as a temporary fix until I got it fixed properly. It all depends on how the hinges have twisted when the door blew round. They are big, heavy doors to catch.

It's most likely the top hinge mounts that are rogered. Look for distortion to the post and door in this area. Removal of the door and "dressing" of the distorted parts with a nylon hammer or plain hammer and hardwood block, will give the best results.

Yeh thanks will try inspecting the hinge mounts...... Just going to try jacking the door up first and see if it makes any difference but thanks.

Hi guys, im new to the forum,have a 05 c4 coupe vts, had a few issues ie rattly plastics around rear window, pulling to left(found out this was camber issue so had to shave some alloy off mount where two bolts sit and elongate bolt holes to give more lean) and last but by no means least drivers door is out of line (dropped a bit) and getting fair bit of wind noise from what seems to be around the door latch area, was wondering if striker plate or catch in door can be adjusted to nip door in a bit when shutting and if new hinge pins would sort the drop, big heavy doors and a pain to get on and off .not to worried about the drop but wind noise is doing my head in. : ( any help in droopy door area would be greatly appreciated) ...... And yes,,, ITS BLACK. : )

Black C4 Coupe FTW! (I learnt that on Cliosport.net!)
I think to get the hinge pins out you undo the clips unclip the door electrics & have a couple of strong mates to lift the door.
The striker plate can be adjusted.
Have a search on the C4Owners.org forum, this link gives some info http://c4owners.org/plugins/forum/forum ... 78710.post" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Also don't forget to put some pics of your car on this forum so we can admire it. Here's mine
