Xantia – Overhauling a doser

Post by lancia58 »

Hi

I checked the doser in the engine compartment and it is fully coated with LHM, it does not leak in the car though. Is there any thread describing how do overhaul the doser ? How can it be checked in situ ?

Thanks
Zohar

its probably just the rubber return hose connected to the dosur valve has split/perished,
not the dosur its self

There are two return pipes from the Doseur valve. One on top and one underneath. Sounds like the one on top has split (it's the easier of the two to get at). Because both these pipes are lower than the top of the reservoir and they join a number of other return pipes at the manifold on the side of the reservoir, LHM tends to take the easy route: out of the split instead of back to the reservoir. If the split is bad, you lose a lot of LHM even if you don't touch the brakes. Any oil/fuel-proof rubber pipe will do, I think it's 4.5mm internal diameter.

why is it a LHD car then as the dosur valve is on the enginebay side of the bulkhead behind the brake pedal,

on a RHD car if your leak is beneath the hydraulic tank this is the anti sink valve, and the repair to this it just an O ring required under the screw on end cap

But, IMHO, it's almost impossible to get anything on the end cap to get it undone (or done back up) with the reservoir in place. Be careful with the pipes to the reservoir, they get brittle with age and heat and new ones are unobtainable.
