Tyre's for a Citroen Visa ?

Post by waynedance »

Had an old chap come in the garage today wanting a tyre for his car. The size if I remember was 160/65 r340, does anyone know where you can buy tyres at this size or any other ideas?

Tried a company called vintage tyres already.
Volvo S80 D5.........
C5 2.2HDi Exclusive 2003 manual (now gone).
2009 Renault Megane, the misses drive.
Had a 1988 BX 19TRS Auto many moons ago.
Forgive any spelling mistakes, it's the phone not me.

I have never heard of a Citroen Visa before. But looking at it on Google - WOW that dash is... unique! I would love to see one in real life because there cannot be another car that looks like that inside... I am not sure if it is crazy, mad, insane or just massively ahead of it's time. I am both horrified and awestruck at the same time. Wow.....

I bought one in a hurry when my BX expired, bought in a rush at a scrapyard without looking too closely, it was only when I got it home and was filling in the paperwork that I realised it was a Visa I had brought home and not an AX.

Half grey, half green (moss all over the left hand side :) )
Fun to drive in a 2CV sort of way, cheap to run and insure. Clattered on for a couple of years before it dies and I bought a Xantia.

Citroen went through a period in late 70's early 80s fiting controls similar to that - they called it PRN (Plein Route Nuit). CX, BX, GS and Visa all got variations of it. It's pretty good once you get used to it - mind you that wasn't a problem for me as I learnt to drive in a Visa like that - I had trouble adapting to the vastly inferior stalks when I had to

What is the bit to the right of the wheel? I can work out the wipers etc on the block to the left, but the lump sticking out on the right has me beat.

Ah yes, the Visa! Had a few, although mostly GTis which had the more 'normal' dashboard.

Think dad's just got the one Visa at the moment, finished in Beige Daim with the dash like the one above.

Yep those are the heater controls on the right...

The Visas were very successfull in rallying back in the day. Have a browse through these few threads if you're interested:

Oh, and the sound they can make is quite glorious! These are 10 mins each, but well worth a watch (and listen!) :-D

I'd love a Chrono, Mille Pistes or Trophee one day... =P~

Max
if you mean the bit with the red and blue tapered strip, they are the levers to adjust hot cold for the heater,

or each side and below the clock the owner has fited to the front of the ash tray :? ,

each side are the directional adjusters/ment, and center is the knuckle warmer whilst changing gear :-D

Yes, I know that. I meant Micheldever themselves for tyres in general aren't cheap! The Avons I priced up for the Scooby are £22 each more there than down the road from me..
