Well, as we're talking gearbox noises. (Synergie 1.9td)
When I lift off the old Loud pedal theres a bearing-esque noise from the gearbox. It's also present when reversing.
Doesnt sound like a typical thrust bearing, as (in my mind) it sounds a bit more affected by the gearbox casing (as in the noise a casing makes when you tap it.... with a hammer! :p )
I hope that makes sense?
Does that sound familier to anyone at all?

It hasn't yet!
It could be worth changing the oil in the gearbox as well. I am not sure of the interval on your 'box for an oil change, it could be worth checking the Haynes BoL (or, better yet, getting an expert to tell you). The oil you need is likely to be 75W80 oil, which you can get from Citroen. 2 litres cost me about £15

Nipped out on my lunch break and got 5ls of the above for almost the same price, but I have since noticed quite a few folks saying they have used semi-synth whereas this is a full mineral oil, should I be concerned?

Hey Folks! Happy Easter!!!
So I finally got the oppertunity to go look at the Syn-Bus and fill it up with lovely new gearox oil....
erm, unfortunately I cant see the drain plug OR a filler plug anywhere!!!
do i need to do something rediculous like tear out the airbox, wishbone and subframe to find them???
any pointers much appreciated....+
oh, and if it helps me win a sympathy vote I doscovered a cat had peed on the front bumper....... AFTER I had dragged my fat frame under the wagon...

Re: Well, as we're talking gearbox noises. (Synergie 1.9td)
yeah like water. I wiped a graphite like substance from both the plugs.... at first I thought the previous owner might have put graphite grease in there to hide the rattle.... :p
No I refilled (overfilled) with it jacked up at the front, so I could keep an eye on my redneck filler assembly, which was hastily removed and replaced with the filler plug, then dropped to the floor and checked.... had to make a little puddle in the street....that is not admissable as a confession in a court of law!!! lol

Re: Well, as we're talking gearbox noises. (Synergie 1.9td)
Hey Folks. Managed to grab some internettings time today. Thought I would add a little update to this thread (plus its MOT time so I am scouring the site for solutions :p )
After the oil change I was quite disheartened as it was still rattling.... So I used the Vectrarse for work for a couple of weeks and Mrs JC used the Syn bus for the school runs as is the norm....
I needed to use the bus to go and collect some wood supplies... Well if I didnt jump in that thing, drive off and (after about 5 mins) think to myself 'wheres the rattle gone??' Obviously it just took a long time to truly work its was around the ol' box of gears and swarf =)
Moral of the story? Patience, young grasshoppah!
