Strange Occurance

Post by Steve T »

Today my wife started to reverse the car off the drive, she stalled it (drive is quite steep) and the dreaded anti pollution fault lit up. She restarted the engine and the car wouldn't rev, I'm assuming limp home mode here. With no revs she stalled it again, when she restarted it for the second time the warning had extinguished and the revs were back to normal :?: Is this something I should be concerned about as perhaps an underlying problem, or just ignore it and hope for the best?

I do have my own theory on this but thought I would throw it open to the floor to see what everyone else thinks. Car is a 2004 C5 1.8 petrol VTR.

If you are worried about it I would get it on a Lexia to see what the fault was.

Will it still display the fault even after the message has dissapeared?

As Ben says, yes the code will be stored and there to be read and cleared.

Had to have a little chuckle to myself, popped on over to fleabay and did a search. I thought "can't be that difficult to find said Lexia" there's loads of results ranging from a single cable to garage equipment; I haven't got a clue where to start. Looks like I'm going to have to find a local garage with the equipment to find out.

Where are you in the country Steve?

Have a look on this thread to see if there is a willing local FCF member who would take a look:

I'm about half way between Wolverhampton and Cannock, checked the map and there's a couple on there not a million miles away; thankls for the link, very useful.
