C5 110 hdi Mk1. Rear suspension.

Post by samjmann »

Hi all, :)

The rear suspension on my C5 estate has failed (again). This is due to a leak on the high pressure feed on the pipe to the rear spheres roughly under the B post.

Believe it or not this is the third leak I've had in this area, It's normally found to have been where the the pipe clips into a clamp holding it into the chassis, salt builds up and eats into the steel pipework. The last leak I had was where the pipe runs under the fuel tank, this resulted in the tank been removed to fit the pre formed pipe into place

What I'm asking is: can I run the car to my garage (about 4 miles away) with the rear suspension virtually flat? Is there any chance of the spheres being damaged?

I've worked out a route that avoids speed humps!

Thanks for any advice given. :-D

I'd crunch the pipe shut just ahead of the leak, using vise grips, then folding the flattened end over and crunching again.
