Sealey VS8626 - DPF Regeneration & Additive Light Tool

Post by russbif »

Has anybody used one of these Sealey tools, are they any good? I intend refilling my additive tank in the next few weeks and need to reset the counter.

i Googled that Sealey No at it comes up as being arouns £130 odd uk pounds,

if you are paying that much dosh out for a dedicated tool for that job, you would be better spending it on a clone DIS-LEXIA from ebay,

as these diagnostic analysers can do more or less what the dealers tool can

I only have Apple equipment, and I believe that the cloned Lexia needs to run on windows, suppose I could buy an old laptop, I can get the Sealey for just over £100, the price of a laptop plus the software would probably run about the same.
Thanks for the suggestion tho'

If you set something up on your Mac called Bootcamp you can run Windows on it without buying any extra hardware.

When you power the Mac on you hold the Alt key and you can choose whether you boot Windows or Mac OS. Default is Mac so unless you hold the Alt key you've no idea Windows is even there!

I've used it for years now on my iMac and MacBook Pro. Works like a charm.

Even a genuine Lexia stuggles to reset the FAP system half the time & can be a bit hit & miss. :)

I have previously used bootcamp to run a windows slide scanner, if I were to run a Lexia clone on my iMac i would need an incredibly long cable to reach the garage....we don't have a macbook anymore, SWMBO has swapped for an iPad!

For those wishing to use Windows or other software on a Mac, I would recommend using the free Virtual Box software that was developed by Sun. This allows you to create virtual machines that run inside the Mac environment, with native processing speed and also full Mac control, so you can use you trackpad, scanners, printers, built-in drives, and external USB devices such as the LEXIA interface. Works great for me and no need to reboot from one system to the other, as is the case with Bootcamp. Of course you still need an installation disk for XP or similar, but these are not hard to find.
