Sometimes a battery reset can clear down a lot af faults. From what I have read on the forum, the C5 is very sensitive about the electrical power. If the battery is on the way out it can cause a lot of (apparently unrelated) problems. I would suggest following the battery reset routine to see if that helps. I would also get the battery itself checked to see if it is up to the job.

This link covers the battery reset. It can take a couple of hours, but it is worth doing it properly;

Arturs, if you read my "Time for a new Battery?" thread, you'll find my battery appeared to check out fine, until one day it finally gave up, and was replaced.
You'll notice also near the end of the thread, that there was part of the negative clamp missing (also has a picture of it), that was often causing a bad ground connection. Mandrake also has a process in that thread for testing the alternator too, so you might want to check that.

Nothing comes to mind at the moment but your experience of the headlighs dimming is a concern. May be related or may be a red herring.

Could a "dead spot" on the ignition switch cause this?
I had this issue on a Xantia, but it was only the blower motor and rear windscreen heater that didn't work. Can anyone clarify what happens on the C5 for a similar issue?
