Thnk there might be a hole in my exhaust....

Post by RichardW »

....so said our friend that came round to babysit tonight, reporting that it sounds a 'bit noisy'. She's got an X Reg Xantia HDi 90 hatch, so still being in work clothes and with a torch in my pocket I went out to have a look. Soon saw the problem. The exhaust has failed at the back of the cat. And at the inlet to the rear box. The bit inbetween (about 4 feet of it) is totally absent  No wonder it was a bit noisy - that is the best failure I have ever seen! A quick look underneath also revealed knackered drop links, totally mullered wishbone bushes, and a reasonable leak from the pinion valve. Not likely to pass its next MOT (due soon) then, so the exhaust is somewhat arbitrary....!
