Bye bye. Sold my C5 and bought a Kia

Post by bencowell »

Dear All

Having been a C5 owner for 10 years and driven 175,000 miles in 2 C5's I've PX'd my 2006 C5 VTX+ 2.2 HDI 173 for a Kia Optima Tech 2 model.

The C5 needed droplinks, balljoints, front spheres, EGR valve replacement (before you say that's easy check out what you have to do on the twin turbo 2.2), rear arm bearing replacing again and the clutch/flywheel was suspect because it was replaced when the car had 25k, and now the feel was inconsistent and banging when turning the engine off.

The C5 is a nice car and I'll always have a soft spot when I see one.

The Kia is a saloon so not as practical as the hatchback. It's well kitted out, feels solid and has a good warranty. I hope we have a lasting happy relationship!

I'm hoping to be at the CCC Wetherby event so will see you there.

I've 4 winter tyres and a Lexia for sale on the for sale board.

Keep driving!
Ben

Good luck with the new motor. I was quite impressed with them in the showroom. Nice warranty!

If it does the job fair enough but I need a large comfortable economical estate and have bought both of mine for probably less than it would have cost to repair yours.

I'm looking forward to seeing your new Kia Ben, it does sound like a pretty good car.

Having bought Bens first C5 I was considering buying the 173, though it seems I made the best choice to leave it. The original C5 is still going strong with 150,000 miles :)

See you at Weatherby if not before ...

I saw one the the other morning - bore a striking resemblance to a Mk111 C5 I thought (I thought it WAS one to start with) - suspension looked very hard though
