Battery drain

Post by allanmc »

Not sure if I have asked this question before but here goes, car series 2 Xantia hdi 110 bhp nearly 2 years ago if the car wasnt started for 2 days it wouldnt start after a while discovered if I drew the No. 25 fuse it was ok the thing on this fuse which I think it might be is a CPH unit as far as I know its behind the passenger glove box,at the time I removed the glove box but then gave up because I was unsure what CPH looked like, my plan was to take the plug out and see if the batt. drain stopped, had a look again today there are a few plugs behind the glove box not easy to get to can anyone help, with a photo perhaps
thanks

I have just done a search for Citroen Xantia CPH and found this;

http://www.transponderstore.com/catalog ... hp?pID=664" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

However, this (according to other items found on the search) is probably the immobiliser transponder, and I do not believe that this is the cause of the problem. According to my handbook, F25 is for CPH, Radio, Instrument cluster, Alarm warning light (the LED in the driver door near to the wing mirror), clock, and exterior temperature display.

I'm aware of other vehicles where the immobiliser causing battery drain is a stock fault, so it seems quite possible that the same is the case here.

This pic in the link is definitely a CPH unit as fitted to the Xantia 2, it has a 15 pin black connector with a slide out locking tab & a 26 pin yellow connector with lever locking tab.
It controls the Immobiliser, alarm, Interior lighting & central locking/deadlocking.

The Radio is ALSO highly likely !

Do you have the radio that has the flap over the front of it??

A single slot cassette deck, I think is a Clarion, but could be a phillips unit, anyway, I had one of these draining a Xantia battery rather quickly, I replaced it with a CD unit from a Saxo and the problem went away...

May be worth a try. Ive not come across any CPH causing a drain on all the fair few Xantias Ive had and know of..

Thanks for the information I had the glove box out and from the photo I see the CPH unit, I now know what plugs to remove I have the radio with the flap and single slot deck I will have another look at that
