Maybe you have a vacuum leak, that is allowing vacuum to escape, and then coming back. This could explain the surge. Difficult to diagnose, I use a mittivac, which enables you to test each component and see if it can hold vac

Thanks for info, looks like going to have to book into a local diesel place for them to test and find the fault.

Have looked at the vac pipes and all seem to be ok but can not test 100%.

Seems the fault is with the turbo when putting a vac pump on the actuator the rod that goes in to the turbo does not seem to be working correctly. The turbo came with the engine, still got my old turbo so looks like got to remove and replace. Not an easy 5 minute job I am told.

Changed my turbo in the end my old one a few broken pieces in it. Someone at worked checked my vacuum to the turbo and noticed it was not working the actuator on the turbo correctly, messed with pipes and all good now.

Check that your actuator is working on turbo, the rod should come out at high revs (have vacuum) could be sticking vanes. My turbo actuator was stuck out so plenty power when over 2000 revs but no power below.

Good luck with your car as I have spent many hours mesing around trying to get my car running right but in my case I had a replacment engine fitted.

There seems to be vacuum to the Turbo actuator
