i can get the old cable out of the bin if you want? as i managed to get the one that was listed as correct returned to my local ECP and managed to get the longer one from another branch of autolec.

if you look at the 2 ecp links above , the top link was the one that fitted ; whilst the bottom link was the one too short (even though listed as correct length on s/c)

can i get to the gearbox part numer via the nsf wheel?

Not that its any direct help, but don't trust or take as gospel after market parts equivalent listings, I went through a similar saga when trying to obtain new handbrake cables for my Xantia V6 - the listings from the majority of the 3rd party suppliers of cables were wrong, wrong, WRONG!

The V6 has a different length cable on one side to nearly all other models of Xantia, and all but one of the suppliers I tried had the wrong length for that cable.

As it happens pagid was one of the brands that had the wrong listings, (for both cables actually) not only was the length wrong, the fittings at both ends were not even the right type for ANY Xantia! (Not even any adjustable lock nuts at the calliper end)

The auto parts guy who was trying to sell them to me assured me they were correct, phoned the supplier to confirm it while I was in the shop, even showed me the listing on the wholesalers website and wouldn't believe me until I showed him the original cables which were nothing like what he was trying to sell me.

Buyer beware...

the wrong one was the correct length as per the book , it was just too short! and looked like

http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Citro ... 6ef&000063" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

the replacement and one that fitted

looks like this

http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Citro ... 4b8&000063_" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

and is quite frankly massively longer (can see the clutch actuator arm under the airbox)

It is very fishy. It has a turbot-charger on the engine...

Fitted a replacement clutch cable to my TD 30k ago, supplied by GSF, and that clicks at times. Not a click as in "noise", but rather something I feel through the pedal. Works OK, so not investigated. Only clicks when I depress the pedal right to the floor.
