ARGH!

it didnt fit!

seriously its too short !

both ECP and autolec said that was the correct part , but it looks nothing like the old one - apparantly i have an ME gearbox not an ML5 !

sigh so now have to wait for teh right one to be ordered in

Nope, you have neither - you have a BE3....

Anyway, an ML5 is hydraulic so no clutch cables involved - just gear-change cables which you don't have either...

I note some parts suppliers are terrible for getting muddled these days...

thats odd as service citroen only shows the one option with your chassis No.

unless someone has fitted a different box at some point

according to the parts catalogue at autolec theres 3 cables and i have an ME gearbox code (using a 1760mm cable); the ML5 uses a 1578mm cable and the BE3 uses a 1365mm cable ; yet service citroen says its an ML5 as posted above!

i know! but the 1578mm cable for the ML5T doesnt fit , it was simply too short.

the one i wanted (and came off the car) looked like this:

http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Citro ... 4b8&000063" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

yet the pattern from all teh numbers said it was:

http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Citro ... 6ef&000063" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

just looked at a BVM ML5T box on S/C and uts hydraulic not cable,
maybe this wagon has been modded/altered,
although it shows it has a cable with the chassis No.

have you measured the length of the old inner cable, might pay to measure the outer as well,
also pull the inner out as far as you can from one end and measure the protruding length of inner

it might have stretched but not 20 cm!

got one from autolec in bexhill ( they actually rang and said they had one) snug fit and the adjuster ( once the green lock was removed as the very very last job) is working its way into to proper adjustment

Sorry, I had it that it was a Xantia :oops: Silly me...

But still, as you say malcolm, an ML5T is hydraulic and in no way are they amenable to being cable operated....

Harlequin, can you take some photos of the offending item?
